Privacy Policy for word119

Last Updated: November 11, 2025

Thank you for using word119. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights in relation to it. Our goal is to be as transparent as possible while creating a powerful and personal Bible study experience for you.

1. Information We Collect

We collect a very limited amount of information to operate and improve the app. We do not require you to create an account to use word119.

A) Information You Provide to Us:

Onboarding Information: During the mandatory onboarding process, we ask two questions: “How many verses can you currently quote from memory?” and “What are you hoping to get out of word119?”. This information is used to help us understand our users’ goals and is tied to a non‑personally identifiable installation ID.

B) Information Collected Automatically:

Usage & Analytics Data: We collect information about how you interact with the app, such as which features you use, session duration, and other user events. This helps us understand what is working and how to make the product better. This data is associated with an anonymous device/installation ID.

Crash & Error Information: If the app crashes or encounters an error, we automatically collect information about the incident. This typically includes the device type, operating system version, and a log of what was happening in the app leading up to the crash.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To Improve and Optimize the App: Analytics and usage data are essential for helping us identify bugs, make performance improvements, and decide which features to build next.
  • To Provide and Maintain the Service: Crash and error reporting helps us keep the app stable and reliable.

3. Data Sharing and Third Parties

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with any third‑party advertisers.

Our commitment to privacy means we only share data with the following essential service providers who help us operate and improve the app:

  • Sentry: We use Sentry for crash and error reporting. Sentry receives data about your device and the error that occurred so we can diagnose and fix problems.
  • Internal Database: We log user events to a secure, private database for our own internal analytics. This helps us understand how the app is being used.

4. Data Storage and Security

Word119 is an offline‑first application. All of your personal content, including your verse collections and study notes, is stored directly on your device in local SQLite tables. We do not have access to this information.

While the data is not separately encrypted in the app’s database, it is protected by your device’s own security features.

5. Your Rights and Data Deletion

Because all your personal content is stored on your device, you have complete control. You can delete all of your information, including collections, notes, and metrics, at any time by simply deleting the word119 app from your device.

6. Children’s Privacy

Our Service is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect any personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected information from a child under 13 without verification of parental consent, we will take steps to remove that information from our servers.

7. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy within the app and on our official website. We may also announce significant updates on our social media channels, including our Instagram account (@word119.app). We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
